Senior Associate Stephen Jackson’s keen interest in the rights of employees and of disabled persons has led him to specialize in employment law and disability litigation and appeals. He has a thorough understanding of employee’s ERISA rights, federal and state employment laws, and Social Security’s multi-step disability determination process. He possesses both the experience required to effectively pursue employee’s rights, and to advocate vigorously for working men and women whose lives are challenged because of chronic illness, injury, or the ravages of disease.
Steve received his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law with a Certificate in Labor and Employment Law in 2003. Steve received his B.A., summa cum laude, in organizational management from Concordia University Chicago in 1999. He is a member of both the Chicago Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar.
Steve was admitted to practice in the State of Illinois and before the United States District Court and the Seventh Circuit Appellate Court in Illinois. While in law school he clerked at the preeminent labor law firm of Katz, Friedman, Eagle, Eisenstein, & Johnson, and then at Daley, DeBofsky & Bryant. After earning his J.D. Steve joined the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office where he worked as an Assistant State’s Attorney in the Child Protection division of the Juvenile Justice Bureau. In 2006 he joined Jan L. Kodner & Associates working exclusively in the area of Social Security disability appeals. He joined the Bryant Legal Group in 2014.
Steve is also a member of the adjunct faculty a Concordia University Chicago where he leads classes in Employment Law, and Personal Values and Organizational Ethics. For the past three years he has also served as Co-Chair for the Scholarship Gala Committee of Smart Love Family Services, a leading Chicago based non-profit offering innovative psychological counseling, parenting programs, and early childhood education.
